About the DPAA
The Daily Pennsylvanian Alumni Association (DPAA) is an organization of alumni of the University of Pennsylvania's student newspaper, The Daily Pennsylvanian. The DPAA has a dual mission of serving both its alumni members and the current student staff of the DP.
The newspaper was founded in 1885 (originally as "The Pennsylvanian" before becoming daily). The DPAA was created in 1987, although there had been several previous short-lived attempts to create an alumni organization dating back to the 1960s.
More than 3,000 living DP alumni have joined the DPAA and can be found through the alumni directory on this website. Many become paid members of the DPAA each year, defraying the costs of running the DPAA and contributing to the operation of the DP. One of the goals of the DPAA is to cover its costs, so that the alumni organization does not need to draw funds away from the newspaper. You can make a membership donation by clicking here.
The DPAA is run by a 12-person Board of Directors, who serve staggered three-year terms. The Board meets in Philadelphia three times each year. Alumni interested in serving on the Board may nominate themselves each fall by contacting us at
